AP Uptime/Downtime

The Analytics AP Uptime/Downtime Screen displays detailed information about the Uptime/Downtime of Stellar APs, and the Uptime/Downtime of the link between APs and OmniVista. By default, Average AP/Link Uptime information is displayed. Click on the AP Uptime/Downtime button to view Stellar AP Uptime/Downtime information. Click on the Average AP/Link Uptime button to return to the default view.

The AP Uptime/Downtime information is based on either on the Last Registration Time for the AP (Network - AP Registration - Access Points - Last Registration Time) or the "Last Up Time" received from alaOVSwitchUp/alaOVSwitchDown traps (Network - Notifications - Notifications Home). The Average AP/Link Uptime Report is based on the total AP down time value in the AP Uptime/Downtime Report for AP Power Down and AP Link Down.

By default, information for all APs for the last 30 days is displayed (up to 5,000 records). If there are more than 5,000 records on the OmniVista Server, you will be prompted to download the records from the server as a .csv file.

AP Uptime/Downtime Logic

If an AP becomes unreachable from OmniVista at time t0, then goes down in the network at time t1, then comes up in the network at t2, then becomes reachable to OmniVista at t3; OmniVista will report that the AP was down in the network from t0 to t2, and that the AP has been Up in the network since t2 (Up between t2 to t3). OmniVista will not be able to report the fact that the AP was up in the network from t0 to t1, as the AP was unreachable.

For the same reason, if an AP goes up and down multiple times between t0 and t2, OmniVista will not be able to detect and report these incidents. When the AP becomes reachable at t3, OmniVista will detect that the AP has been up in the network since the sysUpTime value reported by the AP. All other incidents during the time the AP was unreachable will be unknown to OmniVista and OmniVista will assume that the AP was down from the time it became unreachable until the most recent sysUpTime value reported by the AP when it became reachable.
